Spray on Tans and You!
I started this website last year to document my love for tanning. I am greatly opposed to tanning beds and tanning in the sun because exposure to UV rays is harmful and can cause skin cancer. I have found that the best way to get a tan is through an airbrush tan or a spray on tan. This site is full of much information about tans that are applied through a mist. I did want to go in a little more detail about spray tanning.
What is a Spray Tan?
This method of tanning is a process where a chemical called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is applied to the skin. DHA is made into a solution with other ingredients and used as a mist that is painlessly sprayed onto your skin. You stand to one area and the mist comes down, and then you turn to allow the mist to be applied to your other are, leaving your body covered with the tanner.
What I like about Spray on Tans:
There are many reasons why a spray on tan can be good for you. Here are a few:
- You will get a great looking tan.
- Better than self tanners. Self tanners you apply yourself and you can do it wrong.
- Quick and easy way to tan.
- No sun burn
- The tan is almost immediate
- The price is typically lower than an airbrushed tan
What I don’t like about Spray on Tans:
For the most part spray tans are a great way to get a tan. I would encourage anyone to use this method if they are seeking a quick, easy, and cost effective way to get a good looking tan. However, there are some drawback to this method.
An alternative method to spray tanning is airbrush tanning. Many think the two are one in the same, but they are not. While they both essentially use the same chemical the application process is different. As I said earlier spray tans are applied by a machine, leaving the control up to the machine. Conversely, an airbrush tan is applied by a professional technician. Why does this matter? Well, spray on tans could potentially miss an area of the body, where as an airbrush tan is guaranteed to get those hard to reach areas.
An airbrush tan is a fined tuned method of getting a spray tan and can reach areas that the spray tan method cannot. Also, if you are wanting to adjust the tan color on a certain area of the body you can do so with an airbrush tan. This is not possible with a spray tan because its method is to tan the whole body in whole swoop. Furthermore, if you are wanting to darken your tan lines or only tan your face then airbrush tanning can easily be your go to method. This cannot be the case with a spray tan. One drawback to an airbrush tan is you are going to pay a little more than a spray tan because a technician is involved.
All in all a spray tan is a great way to get a tan if you want to focus on the whole entire body, and don’t mind the color being the same throughout, but if you are looking for a more refined method then an airbrush tan may be a better option.Pin It
